Check out some new material from the forthcoming “Defenders of Style Vs. The Office” mixtape on Chester P & Remus’s ITCH.fm show. Big shouts to Chess and Reems for dropping “Child’s Play” this at the top of their show and sharing Leeds shit with the southern crowd. Defenders and The Office will be releasing the album with a massive party at the Guilty Party (Leeds) in March, until then you’ll have to support your local radio shows and catch everything there.

Defenders have teamed up with Ejecto’s to run a little competition holding some packaged prizes up for grabs. If you didn’t know, Ejecto’s is an independent clothing label based in Leeds available at Art Official (by the corn exchange) and online at www.ejectos.com. In addition to stocking the crew with fresh threads for the recent travels around Europe, they also gave us some to give away…
HOW TO PLAY
Below you will see a few EJECTO logos, each one of these pictures is a link. Most of these links go to thing defenders have done or support, however one page goes to a dedicated winning page. The page contains an EJECTO logo in bright orange on a white background with writing underneath advising you that you have found the correct link. But feel free to go through all the links, there might be a few things in a corner of the internet that you haven’t seen before…
To enter you will need to provide the url of this page in an email along with – your name and telephone number to firstname.lastname@example.org. The subject of your email should read “EJECTCOMP2013” and winners will be selected at random and announced on the 12th of January 2014. Make sure you check back on this date to find out results.
So Christmas is over and the new year is nearly here. If you are like most then you will be well fed, in good company and short on cash. With this in mind, Defenders have a few late presents to give out in the next few weeks to top them stockings up.
Keep an eye out for the EJECTOS CLOTHING COMPETITION launching on January 1st. Full details of this will become available on this date, but until then all you need to know is that we’ve got two free packages from Ejecto’s to give away (with a load of other goodies like stickers and hard copies of Thoughts of the Nameless).
Another thing to keep an eye out for in the first few weeks of 2014 is the DS Vs. Office Mixtape. Now you might have heard about this or you might not have, either way you will probably want to know about it because it is going to be large! Featuring J Bravo, Tek Nico, Alamak, DSfam, Optic, Prolific and more, it is strongly advised that you try and get this while the download is free.
Anyway, that’s it for now. So keep your eyes and ears peeled over the next few weeks and until then… happy new year.
So we posted up some photos from our travels around Europe a few weeks back and since then we’ve received a link from the guys at Just-A-Jam of a video they made to document the event. It’s a good 17 minutes long and shows everything from building the marquee’s, to stacking pallets for the stage, to graffiti, breaking and the live music. You’ll understand the levels that these lot took it to when you see this video, they must have had about 9 cameras rolling throughout the day, 5 of which on and around the stage and one was on a f**king remote control drone… It was ill! Check it out anyway, standard you should watch it start to finish, but keep an eye out for #thefam around 10 minutes and me with my own section of cutting for the last two minutes.
Also, I hope you appreciate the snippet of a new Danz beat that slipped it’s way on to the video. There was some heated discussion about doing unreleased material so deek it, leak it and seek it when it drops on the next album.
Shouts again to Leo, Fabian, Cecile, Dave, Beda and everyone at Just-A-Jam involved.
On getting back from Europe there was little time to relax before being away for another inevitably messy weekend. Preparing for the set in the Sika stage tent on the Sunday, departure is made on the Saturday morning with one (2man) tent in the boot and after all the arguements about who’s in the middle seat simmer down. 4 hours later its time to get through the festival entrance and push the car over a bridge it gets beached on from being a mudfest, 10 minutes after that is all a blur… seriously! If you have any footage please send to email@example.com. Shouts to Chris Sika and Ivan for making it happen and Jake for driving. Here are a few flicks from the weekend.
From the 25th of August to the 8th of September DS Fam went on a small tour through Europe, playing at Outlook Festival (Pula, Croatia) and Just A Jam (Basel, Switzerland).
Landing in Dubrovnik on the Sunday with a 4 days to cover 500 miles in the rented Cheverolet, the journey to go play the harbour stage at the Outlook site took three days and included parking tickets, drunk locals crashing cars, random beaches and throwing up at the side of the road. The festival itself was to its usual standard with an extensive line up of amazing artists and numbers in their thousands, particular highlights being; Pharoahe Monch, Pharcyde, Joey Bada$$, J Rocc, DJ EZ and Submotion Orchestra. Massive thanks to Noah Ball and Simon Scott for putting it all together and getting us to play there for the second year running.
When Outlook was over it was time to leave Croatia and get over to Basel in Switzerland for Just A Jam. This was a community event with some unbelievable graffiti artists, breakers and musicians from Switzerland, France, Germany and (obviously) the UK. Put together by locals, this project has been put together to exhibit talent and make connections with other artists from different areas. Shouts out to Leo, Dave, Fabian, Cecile and everyone involved with the whole operation.
